1-GETTING STARTED
- Mask off the working area wall corners, the edge of the ceiling, baseboard.
We usually use a low tack painters tape, never mask over freshly dried paint the tape will pull it up.
2-PRACTISE FIRST
- Pour your stencil paint into a tray or plate
We don't want a blotchy looking roller. Once your stencil roller is evenly saturated with paint, offload the excess paint by rolling it a couple of times on folded paper towels.
- Roll-off the excess paint on a household paper
Less paint is more in stelling. It’s very important that you use a thin layer of paint so it won’t seep under the stencil, the edges come clear and the surface will dry more quickly ( within minutes).
- Rollover your sample surface
Start rolling and slowly build up paint coverage using light to medium pressure. Don't push too hard as this can cause the paint to bleed under the stencil.
3-LET’S STENCIL
- Mask off the working area wall corners, the edge of the ceiling, baseboard.
We usually use a low tack painters tape, never mask over freshly dried paint the tape will pull it up.
- Use painter’s tape or spray adhesive to attach the stencil on the wall.
No matter which one you choose, they are both reusable, easily removable and will not damage your wall.
Work from top to bottom and left to right or right to left. Start at the ceiling line in an area that will allow you to do a full column, from ceiling to floor without any windows or doors in the way. When repositioning the stencil, it will lock in with itself. The same rule applies when repositioning right or left. Don’t paint over the previous parts. Continue the same way with the entire wall.
4- READY
- Let it dry and enjoy your work.
Clean the stencil under warm water and use a cleaning detergent for greasy or hard surfaces.
FOR TILE

It is super important that you use a Bonding primer to make sure that you get proper adhesion to your floor regardless if you are stenciling existing tile, vinyl, cement or plywood. You can lightly sand off any small imperfections before applying your base coat but try not to sand through the primer. Let the primer dry fully before applying your base coat. Primer should be allowed to dry for at least 24 hours before stenciling.
Base coat paint should be allowed to dry for before stenciling.

If you are stenciling over the existing tile you simply need to center your stencil on each tile. No need to use the built-in stencil registration. Your pre-existing tile will dictate the placement. But if you are stenciling plywood, linoleum or cement floor ,you may want to use a light-colored chalk line or chalk pencil to give yourself a basic grid to follow so your rows stay square.
- Clear Waterbased Polyurethane
In most cases, you'll want to protect your newly stenciled floor with a protective clear coat to prevent it from wearing off.
Apply 2-3 coats for best results using a tight nap roller or even a dense foam roller. You must stir them slowly with a stirring stick.
